The gate at the entrance of LF Wade International Airport will be closed every night beginning Monday.A Government spokesman announced that the gate would close from midnight until 5am.“The need to install the gate was to secure the airport during non-operational hours to help protect against illegal dumping activity that has taken place in the Eastern end of the long-term car park,” he said.“Gate and fencing has also been installed on the Northern side of the airfield adjacent to the baseball fields near the Double Dip ice cream parlour to help guard against continuing illegal dumping activity in that area.“Historically, we have also had challenges with bike thefts in the motorcycle parking area outside of the terminal building.“The gate will help guard against this activity as well. The gate will continue to be used to assist in traffic flow management during safety and security incidents.”He advised anyone in need of assistance to contact airport security police on 299-4846.
