Food Festival gets under way

The second annual City Food Festival launched in Hamilton yesterday, bringing cooking competitions to the Bermuda Gas Showrooms.Organiser Thomas Lightbourne said a group of chefs were given ingredients over the weekend and were asked to make three types of canapés. The competition will continue tomorrow and Friday before the winner is named at the Festival itself on Saturday.Throughout the week, participating restaurants in Hamilton will offer food specials and, on Saturday, will operate booths at the Number One car park where the public can sample their food.In addition to the cooking competition, the Festival will feature a number of public competitions including best fish chowder, best rum swizzle and best loquat recipe.The City Food Festival will be held at the Number One car park between 2pm and 10pm. The cooking competition starts at 6pm tomorrow and Friday, with tickets costing $30.
