Man shot in Somerset
A 22-year-old man was shot and injured at around 10pm last night in the area of Beacon Hill Road and Scotts Hill Road in Sandys.According to police his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. A gang involvement cannot be ruled out, a police spokesman said.A stretch of road at the crest of Beacon Hill Road was cordoned off last night and there was a heavy police presence.Area MP Leah Scott, who said she was tasked two weeks ago with a gang mediation initiative, told The Royal Gazette: “It just saddens me to see our young men inflicting harm in one another. I don’t know what the answer is but we have to deal with this together as a community.”Ms Scott, who lives near the scene, added: “My own son has been locked up for 18 years. It’s an unbearable pain to know that someone wants to hurt your child.”
