Zanders and Hill win City art competition

Local artists Ami Zanders and Milton Hill emerged as the overall winners of the City of Hamilton’s Art Festival Competition for their submission ‘Heritage’.

The winning duo will share the top cash prize of $1,000 and an exhibition at the Bermuda Society of Arts (BSOA) to take place any time within the next 12 months. The exhibition also comes with $500 worth of marketing and communications support with membership to the Society and the Bermuda National Gallery.

The runner-up was Anne Kermode, who received $500 in cash and membership to the two galleries. The name of her piece was ‘Watering Hole’.

Honourable mention went to Nancy Hutchings Valentine for ‘Music 1’.

Mayor of Hamilton Graeme Outerbridge announced the winners yesterday.

‘The People’s Choice’ award winner will be announced on May 15.

Mayor Outerbridge said: “The general public is invited to go to the BSOA (on the second floor of City Hall) to cast a vote for their favourite piece.”

He also thanked all the artists for their submissions. “Without their hard work, dedication and support, the artist competition would not have been successful,” he said.
