Seeking public’s SAGE advice

The Spending and Government Efficiency Commission will go directly to the public this month for suggestions on reducing the cost of government, and improving its efficiency.Three meetings - on May 21, May 28 and May 30 - will be held at St James Church hall, Somerset, Penno’s Wharf, St George’s and Peace Lutheran Hall, Paget, respectively.“When the SAGE Commission members discussed ways to involve the community in our review of the government, we agreed that the dialogue about how to create a more modern, efficient and accountable government should be an inclusive one,” Brian Duperreault, the SAGE Commission chairman, said yesterday.“We also agreed that we wanted to offer as many options for participation as possible. So we established three ways to submit suggestions: on our web site at www.sagecommission.bm; in private sessions; and at public meetings.“We’re keen to hear from the public and hope as many people as possible will attend one or more of these meetings.”For more information, please call 299-0210 or visit www.sagecommission.bm.
