Devon Spring Road reopens to traffic
Devon Spring Road has reopened to traffic after it was closed for a decade.
The south entrance of the Devonshire road was closed in 2003 when the cliff beneath it began crumbling.
A new retaining wall was recently completed.
Said Public Works Minister Trevor Moniz in a statement released today: “The primary objective of this project was to make the wall safe for residents and the public and then re-open the road to traffic. The public and the community can now be assured that this objective has been achieved.”
He continued: “I would like to thank the engineers within my Ministry for their design of this wall as well as Brown and Company Ltd for working in a professional manner that has seen this project into fruition. I am very pleased that we have remained steadfast in our determination to resolve the project’s challenges. Public safety was a paramount consideration and I am very pleased that a secure and adequate wall design has been constructed under the direction of senior technical officers of the highways section of the Ministry.”
