A jewel in the rough

The Vesey Nature Reserve in Southampton is just off Middle Road, between Evans Bay Road and Rockaway. It is an eight-acre property that was donated by Sharon Vesey to Buy Back Bermuda in 2009. The reserve includes part of the valley containing Evans Pond and a ridge line extending to the Little Sound. It has two limestone quarries and a natural sink hole, as well as numerous trees, fauna and wildlife. Other amenities include walking trails, interpretive signs, a quarry exhibit, places to picnic and for children to play, benches to relax on and an observation platform with a fabulous view of the Sound.
