Problem causes passport processing delays

A printing problem within the Department of Immigration has slowed down the processing of passports.Staff are working to ensure the documents are issued within the usual “eight working day turnaround time” however the public should expect to experience some delays, a Government spokeswoman said.Technical problems with the department printer were behind the delay, she added.A Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson said: “The Department of Immigration will however continue to receive passport applications for processing and will make every attempt to issue the documents in accordance with its eight working day turnaround time.“In the meantime, the Department of Immigration assures the public that it is working diligently to address the technical issues so as to avoid any further inconvenience to the public. We want to take this opportunity to thank the public in advance for their continued cooperation and patience.”
