Hit and run victim in fear of the road

A hit and run has left a woman motorist in fear of the road — but grateful for “the care and compassion of others”, who tended to her at the scene. The scooter rider is recovering from a broken and dislocated right shoulder after being knocked down on Saturday night by a car — which she said “did not even stop”.Requesting anonymity, the woman said she’d been heading east on South Road in Paget when a car made the turn onto Point Finger Road “as if I was not even there”.She told The Royal Gazette: “To everyone — please slow down at a scene of an accident. I was almost ran over a few times even when there were people directing traffic around me.”Addressing the driver of the car, she added: “ I hope you know that whatever caused you to flee the scene is not important, but it is the thought that someone didn’t care enough to make sure that I was OK that causes me distress.”Now, after training in anticipation of a triathlon in the autumn, she said that “sadly that is on hold — as there is no cycling, swimming, running, or any activity for that matter in the near future”.She asked for any witnesses to the accident, or anyone able to give details in locating the driver, to contact police.
