Gorham’s gives $10k to charity

Something to get you started: RC Farrington, Georgia Wilson and Kirk Kitson of Gorham’s present a $10,000 cheque to Martha Dismont, executive director of Family Centre, to help kick off the charity’s year-end fundraising campaign.

The Family Centre is “elated” after Gorham’s Ltd donated $10,000 towards the charity’s year-end fundraising campaign.

“We are tremendously grateful to Gorham’s for championing this launch of our fundraising campaign,” said Family Centre executive director, Martha Dismont.

“This investment in the health and well being of vulnerable children and their families is so important today.”

She said the charity’s mission in the coming year will be to ensure they continue offering their services of counselling, parenting groups, social skills groups for children and behavioural groups for children.

“We want to acknowledge all of the families that are doing their best to keep their heads above water,” Ms Dismont said. “In this very difficult economic climate, we are grateful when the community comes to our aid to ensure that the many families that need support will receive it because of this funding.”

She added: “We are also very grateful to [Gorham’s vice chairman] Kirk Kitson for his continued support of this campaign. He is one of many community-minded individuals who are committed to ensuring that we do not fail in our quest to meet our budgetary expenses.”
