Brown to host free lecture

Opposition MP Walton Brown will host a free public lecture at Bermuda Industrial Union tonight, on Bermuda’s ‘Immigration Policy and the Politics of Population Change’.

The lecture, which starts at 6pm will focus on the historical perspectives of immigration policy over the past several decades.

“I would say this is an opportunity for people living in Bermuda to get a much better understanding of some of the controversies that emerge when on discusses immigration policy,” said Mr Brown.

“The discussion will look at policy over the decades and help to put it in the context of political decisions of the day,” he added.

“There is a common thread that has run through the development of immigration policy for well over 100 years. You will need to come to the lecture to find out what that is. The lecture promises to very informative.”

The meeting in Hamilton will start 90 minutes ahead of the second Progressive Labour Party town hall meeting on the recommendations of the SAGE Commission.

That meeting will be held tonight at Dalton E Tucker Primary School in Southampton at 7.30pm.
