Island Trading has donated $5,000 to the development of the hospital’s new Acute Care Wing as the Bermuda Hospital Charitable Trust’s Why It Matters campaign continues.

Earlier this year the company donated 11 pairs of steel-toe construction boots to the BHCT, valued at more than $750, to help provide safety for tours of the construction site.

“We recognise the importance of supporting local projects, especially something like the hospital that affects us all. As a local business we are happy to do our part,” said Laura Farge-Lowe, vice president of Island Trading.

BHCT executive director Wendy Augustus thanked the company for their contribution, saying that the campaign needs the support of all areas of the community in order to be successful.

“We are grateful for donations from local businesses, such as Island Trading,” she said. “Their interest in the project and willingness to give wholeheartedly to the campaign has helped us broaden philanthropic support both financially and in-kind.”
