Canadians join search for missing guest
The hunt for missing Canadian visitor William Grange continued unabated into its fifth day last night, with local teams joined by a contingent of eight from Canada.
The search for the Napanee, Ontario man, who suffers from short-term memory loss and is likely to be sheltering in a shed or similar location without understanding where he is, will be joined by more people from Canada later in the week.
A team of staff from Cambridge Beaches, where Mr Grange was staying when he seemingly became lost during a stroll, was bolstered by locals at 6pm yesterday.
The retired lawyer was staying at the Sandys cottage colony with his wife when he went for a walk around the grounds at about 10pm on May 2. There has been no trace of him since, and his family have expressed concerns about his safety, particularly as he requires medication for seizures.
His son, John Grange, said he’d been stopped repeatedly by locals showing their support. “Every path, every road, there was someone else searching,” Mr Grange said. “We hope it doesn’t go for much longer.”
He remained optimistic that the 67-year-old would be discovered soon, and thanked residents for their help.
“I’m convinced the Bermudian population is aware and is out there searching,” Mr Grange said.
The hunt for the missing man, which is now being covered in Canadian media, was joined for a second day by police tracker dogs, he added.
Mr Grange is 5ft 9in tall, with grey hair, weighing about 190lbs. He may have a five-day growth of beard by this stage. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket, beige trousers, a blue golf shirt and brown shoes.
