Community Day to benefit charities
Several local charities will benefit when the Centre on Philanthropy hold their third annual Family Community Day at the National Sports Centre on Sunday.
The event, sponsored by Allied World, is designed to support the charities by offering entertainment, food and games as well as offering information about various causes and future volunteer opportunities.
“Allied World and The Centre on Philanthropy’s goal is to offer an event that makes volunteerism appealing and fun for the whole family, while providing children with the opportunity to become agents of change in their community, by thoughtfully contributing to causes they care about,” Elaine Williams, executive director of the Centre on Philanthropy, said. “Students are also able to gain Community Service hours, by participating in the event.”
“The Allied World Family Community Day offers an opportunity to harness the boundless energy of youth, rallying together with their closest loved ones, to come together and give,” added a Centre statement. “Children learn compassion and community awareness and together families are building the foundation for volunteerism through the next generation.”
More than 25 charities are confirmed to take part in the event with 12 of them bringing projects that people can help to complete.
Participating charities include Amnesty International Bermuda, the Eliza DoLittle Society, Keep Bermuda Beautiful, Matilda Smith Williams Seniors Residence, Greenrock and Phenomenal People.
