Grange family returns to Canada

Retired Canadian lawyer, William (Bill) Grange is described as white, 5’9” tall, with white hair and was last seen on Friday, May 2 wearing beige pants, a blue shirt, brown jacket and brown shoes. He was visiting Bermuda with his wife and staying at the Cambridge Beaches resort in Sandys. Anyone with any information on Mr Grange's whereabouts is asked to contact Police.

A fund has been set up to help find missing Canadian tourist Bill Grange — and possibly offer a reward for information.

Friends of the Grange family in Ontario have already raised more than C$5,000 through a crowd funding page and aim to raise C$10,000.

Online fundraising campaign creator Ashley Nascimento, a friend of Mr Grange’s son John, wrote: “With this money John can hire local help to continue his search or offer a finder’s award.”

More than 60 individuals and groups have donated to the online fundraising bid.

The news came as police said they have logged no recent reports of sightings of Mr Grange.

The update came more than a month after Mr Grange, 67, disappeared after taking a late night walk in the grounds of the Cambridge Beaches resort in Sandys.

A police spokesman said: “There have been no substantive sightings of Mr. Grange reported recently.”

But he added: “The Bermuda Police Service continues to follow all leads regarding missing Canadian visitor Mr. William (Bill) Grange.”

The search for Mr Grange was scaled down in mid-May.

Police confirmed then that the hunt for Mr Grange had “transitioned from a proactive search to a reactive investigation”.

The retired lawyer, who was staying at Cambridge Beaches with his wife, disappeared on Friday, May 2.

Despite a massive search involving police, the Bermuda Regiment, prison officers, Customs and volunteers, no trace of Mr Grange has been found.

Staff at Cambridge Beaches also organised searches of the Sandys area.

Mr Grange, who suffers from short-term memory problems and needs regular medication to avoid seizures, went missing around 10pm.

More than 100 people were involved in the land and sea search at its peak and a mini-helicopter operated by Bermuda Aerial Media was also used to scan wooded areas.

Police also investigated a series of reported sightings of Mr Grange across the Island but drew a blank.

Cambridge Beaches director Alexis Roberts said: “The Granges have left the Island and we have stopped our volunteer group searches, but the staff are always on the lookout and we still have pictures poses around the place just in case.”

Mr Grange is described as white, 5’9” tall, with white hair.

When last seen, he was wearing beige pants, a blue shirt, brown jacket and brown shoes.

Mr Grange’s son John, and friends of the family flew to Bermuda in the wake of his disappearance to help in the search, although John Grange has since returned home.
