Firm launches health partnership

A new collaboration between a Bermuda insurer and a US healthcare giant aims to boost the Island’s health, especially for people deemed to be at high risk.

The Argus Group has teamed with Johns Hopkins Medicine International to help manage chronic disease, as well as offering preventive health management for those at lower risk.

“This is more than just a collaboration between two companies — this is about improving the health of the population, and ensuring the coordination of care through our own primary research,” said Michelle Jackson, the executive vice president of group health at Argus.

The “strategic partnership”, which will see a pilot project launched in the coming months, is aimed at “empowering people to take control of their own health”, Ms Jackson said.

The insurer will learn best practices gleaned in the field of population health, and employ them locally.

Johns Hopkins Medicine experts will guide the launching of the local programme, and collaborate with Argus to monitor its success.
