Women face trial after alleged Front Street fight

Two women who have been charged with affray and assaulting police will face trial tomorrow.

In Magistrates’ Court this morning, M’aeisha Weeks, 21, of St John’s Road, Pembroke, and Asha Joell, 23, an American from Winton, North Carolina, both pleaded not guilty to being involved in a fight and then violently resisting their arrest.

The court heard Ms Joell has been staying with Ms Weeks during her time in Bermuda.

Prosecutor Maria Sofianos said Ms Weeks violently resisted one officer while Ms Joell resisted an officer while assaulting another.

The alleged offences occurred on August 9 on Front Street, Hamilton.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released the two defendants on $1,000 bail with one surety.
