A Romanian sailor was brought into Bermuda yesterday after falling ill on board a passing ship.

The bulk carrier, Bargara, diverted into Five Fathom Hole off St David’s at around noon so the Second Engineer could be brought into St George’s on the Pilot Boat.

The crewman, who was suffering the effects of jaundice, was then taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Bargara, which originated in New Orleans, continued her journey on to Turkey.
