Perot Post Office to close for repairs

Perot Post Office: the Queen Street historic landmark is set to close on Monday for repairs

The Perot Post Office on Queen Street in Hamilton will close for interior repairs on Monday, and is scheduled to reopen on February 6, the Bermuda Post Office (BPO) has advised.

Customers who use the historic facility can use the General Post Office in Hamilton and sub-post offices throughout the Island while repairs are continuing, a Bermuda Government press release advised.

The release also stated that repairs were due to commence on November 1, but were postponed because of hurricane damage to other government properties. The statement added the BPO has apologised in advance for inconveniences that may be suffered by customers.

Perot’s Post Office is named after William Perot, the man who was appointed Bermuda’s first Postmaster General in 1821. Mr Perot crafted postage stamps that rank among the world’s earliest. Only 11 of the rare and sought-after stamps survive today.
