Chris Furbert has taken over as the president of the Bermuda Trade Union Congress.

In keeping with the BTUC constitution, the offices of president and vice-president were rotated among the presidents of the affiliate unions, with Mr Furbert, the Bermuda Industrial Union president, taking over from Jason Hayward.

Mr Hayward, the new full-time president of the Bermuda Public Services Union, is now the first vice-president, with Raymond Bean, of the Electricity Supply Trade Union, the second vice-president. Michael Charles, of the Bermuda Union of Teachers, is the general secretary and treasurer.

The new positions became effective as of last Thursday.
