Wedco and Co5 link up for Dockyard event

In light of the cancellation of the 77th Agricultural Exhibition, West End Development Corporation and a committee of five young social entrepreneurs have joined forces to provide an environment filled with fun activities, entertainment, competitions, vendors, arts and crafts.

The Royal Naval Dockyard Family Festival is a free community event on Saturday and Sunday, complemented by collaboration with the Bermuda Power Boat Association event on the final day.

Schools and prisons have been invited to participate, and add to the creative elements already in Dockyard, by showcasing artwork and crafts by students and inmates. Gombeys, local entertainers and dance groups have also been called upon for demonstrations, performances and competitions respectively. “With the existing economic and social climate in Bermuda, it is imperative that we, as community leaders, come forward and provide wholesome activities for families and our youth,” the group said in a statement.

The festival will provide activities for all ages, including fun castles, train rides, slides, laser tag, archery, glass-bottom boat tours, pony rides, fun games, local vendors, DJ music and a showcase of local entertainment.

There are several organisations and individuals that have come together to support and to endorse this initiative.
