Kent Hayward is to succeed Lloyd Matthew as executive director at the Bermuda School of Music.

Mr Hayward, who has served as head of music at Warwick Academy for the past 15 years, will take over on September 1. He is well known for developing various instrumental groups at the school including jazz ensembles, along with popular musical performances. He was a soloist with the English Chamber Orchestra’s concert presented by the Bermuda Festival, and has performed and conducted at a host of community events.

A graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in horn performance, Mr Hayward has also presided over the Bermuda Philharmonic Society for seven years.
