Sport club receives $10k donation

Dr Ewart Brown presents a cheque to Pembroke Hamilton Club vice president Mike Trott.

Bermuda Healthcare Services has donated $10,000 to the Pembroke Hamilton Club as part of its ongoing support.

BHS founder and executive chairman, Dr Ewart Brown handed the cheque to the club’s vice president Mike Trott at a press conference.

Pembroke Hamilton Club is known for its sports programmes and community involvement.

Dr Brown said: “For more than five years Bermuda Healthcare Services has sponsored PHC — some years have been better than others. The club continues to do a good job of engaging the youth of that community. Years ago that community was my constituency — that is how all of this began. I do think that it is important that the Bermuda business community supports sports and youth development in the country. PHC, with its rich history, strong commitment to youth development and community involvement has demonstrated that they not only care about the community but they are willing to put in the work to improve our community.

He added: “They are doing especially well with the youth and that got our attention. Often times people wonder how you are going to stop young people from going astray and I have always believed that sports can play a large role in that.”
