Survey: Support for gaming grows

Support for casino gambling has grown with more than half of people now in favour, according to the results of a recent survey.

In the poll by Profiles of Bermuda, 53.4 per cent of 407 voters said they were in favour of casino gaming, while 40.5 per cent said they were opposed.

The results show an increase of support for casino gaming — in a similar survey in 2012, 45.6 per cent of voters were in favour of casino gaming, with 43.3 per cent opposed.

Males and young adults were more likely to support casino gaming, with 67.4 per cent of men in favour. Seniors and women were split on the issue, with 47.7 per cent of those over the age of 55 opposing gaming, along with 46.8 per cent of women.

The survey was carried out between April 15 and May 10 this year and has a margin of error of 4.8 per cent.
