Forensics officer joins ranks

A forensics police officer from the Virgin Islands has been seconded to the Bermuda Police Service for a month.

Sergeant Wendell Ballantine of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Forensic Unit will join the ranks of the Bermuda Police Service from August 1 until August 31.

Sgt Ballantyne has over eight years of experience in the field of forensics and during his time with the BPS he will shadow the Forensic Support Unit, under the guidance of Acting Detective Sergeant Jewel Alex Hayward.

Sgt. Ballantine's visit is designed to provide him with an overview of the role of forensic support within the Bermuda Police Service.

Paul Wright, Acting Commissioner of Police said: “ I am happy to welcome Sergeant Wendell Ballantyne to the ranks of the Bermuda Police Service for the next month.

“I am confident that Sgt. Ballantyne will form some useful practices to take back home and I wish him best in his new post.”
