Art student wins $5,000 bursary award

The Bermuda Society of Arts (BSOA) has announced its annual bursary award recipient.

Sarai Jahdai Hines, 20, is studying a postgraduate degree in education secondary art and design and received the award of $5,000. She was one of 14 aspiring artists who applied by submitting portfolios before being shortlisted by BSOA governing body members Aideen-Ratteray Price, Earl Jones and former co-president Dr Edwin Smith.

The bursary provides financial aid to a Bermudian student interested in furthering their post-secondary education in fine arts and or design. All recipients should be registered at an accredited college or university for either undergraduate or postgraduate studies.

The finalists' work will be featured in a free art show at the Bermuda Society of Arts. The gallery is located on the top floor of the City Hall and Arts Centre, Church Street, Hamilton, and is open six days a week.
