A local ghost tour has earned international press in an article detailing haunted Caribbean hotspots.

The article, published on the USA Today website, highlights the Haunted History Walking Tour in St George’s in a Hallowe’en-themed travel story.

Writer Melanie Reffes states: “St George’s, one of the most storied neighbourhoods in Bermuda, is also the most haunted.

“Twice a week, with special after-dark Hallowe’en tours on October 30 and October 31, Haunted History Walking Tours get under way from King’s Square with spooky storytellers leading the way.

The tour wanders through narrow laneways like Shinbone Alley, named for the soldiers from the British Military Garrison who battered their shins after drunkenly crawling out of the taverns.

“With no more than 25 tour-goers in tow, costumed guides try not to disturb the ghosts who slumber beneath the ground where Bermuda was born in 1612.”

The story also notes similar Caribbean attraction such as the Rose Hall Plantation in Jamaica, Haiti’s Plaine du Nord Festival and the small community of Hell on Grand Cayman.
