Meeting for new container rules in Hamilton

The City of Hamilton has announced it will next week host a meeting to detail new rules for shipping containers.

According to a spokeswoman, the city is changing the way it manages the use and movement of 40ft shipping containers which would affect businesses, shipping lines, truckers and importers.

“The change involves a fee for application and is effective from January 1, 2016,” the spokeswoman said.

“Everyone in the industry who uses 40ft containers is encouraged to attend a public meeting at the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce on Front Street, where the new process will be explained and questions answered.”

The meeting is at 1pm on Tuesday, December 8. Further details will be posted on the City of Hamilton website, www.cityofhamilton.bm.
