Non-profit organisation Code 411 will on Wednesday be hosting a Holiday Hackathon to help teach young Bermudians about programming.

The second annual free event offers participants between the ages of 12 and 17 the opportunity to learn about coding along with building games and iPhone apps. A spokesman for Code 441 said: “Our mission is to educate, inspire and equip Bermudian boys and girls with skills and resources to pursue opportunities in technology. Last year we had an amazing turnout of over 70 students and they were able to create personal websites of their own with their skills, interests and favourite music or sports athletes.”

He added that the students gave the event rave reviews, saying the programme helped them learn coding skills at their own pace and make new friends. The hackathon will take place at XL Catlin on Bermudiana Road starting at 10am, and participants can sign up on code441.com.
