The Gilbert Institute Parent-Teacher Association is hosting a rally this morning to keep the school open.

Scheduled from 8am to 8.40am, the rally is set to begin in the Evangelical Church car park on Mission Road, next to Modern Mart in Paget, before heading down South Shore Road.

Students, family members, alumni and community members are invited to bring display posters with a message about the school and let Bermuda know why it should not be shut.

The recently released school reorganisation (Score) report identified four primary schools for possible closure — Gilbert Institute, Heron Bay Primary School, Prospect Primary School and St David’s Primary School.

Criteria included safety and accessibility, building condition, school utilisation, classroom capacity and financial resources.
