Man named from fatal Paget crash

Police have named 21-year-old Ezariah Matthie as the second traffic fatality of the year.

Mr Matthie was involved in a collision with a truck at the junction of Harvey Road and Ord Road in Paget shortly before 2.45pm yesterday.

He was taken to the Intensive Care Unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Bermuda Police Service spokesman Dwayne Caines said: “It appears a motorcycle was travelling west when it collided with a truck that was turning at the junction.

“A full investigation is under way and a family liaison officer has been assigned to the family to assist with this difficult process. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr Matthie.

Anyone with any information regarding this accident or any information on the movements of Mr Matthie before his death are urged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.
