Transport minister Shawn Crockwell has provided details about a $13 million Budget allocation for the Island’s airport redevelopment project

Meanwhile David Burt, the Shadow Minister of Finance, pointed out that millions had been budgeted for a project that “was supposed to cost the taxpayer nothing”.

The minister last night told MPs that $2.5 million had been spent in the fiscal year 2015/16 for the proposal to build a new airport terminal at LF Wade International Airport. A further $4.3 million had been set aside for spending in 2016/17.

Mr Crockwell said $250,000 would go to Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce for financial advisory services, while $700,000 was due to KPMG.

Architects HNTB would receive $1 million for design engineering, and management consulting firm LeighFisher was due $560,000, he said.

Bennet Jones, the law firm, would be paid $900,000, while $391,000 would go into “reimbursable expenses” such as travel, which Mr Crockwell described as “ancillary costs associated with doing business”.
