New-look hospital café a hit with customers
The revamped café at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital is proving a hit with customers.
The new menu options at the Pink Café are going down so well that more equipment is being brought in to keep up with the demand.
“Everybody is thrilled with the new look and commenting on the new environment,” Nancy Oughton, the general manager of the Hospitals Auxiliary of Bermuda, told The Royal Gazette.
“It’s much brighter and welcoming and the customers are really enjoying our new menu choices.”
She said the new paninis had been the most popular addition.
“The paninis are such a hot seller that we are bringing in a second panini machine to keep up with the orders,” she added.
Ms Oughton said the café was also famous for its gingerbread, which draws people from all over the island, as well as its ever-popular cod fishcakes.
“We serve freshly made hamburger patties,” she added.
The Pink Café closed for renovations in February and was officially reopened at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 21.
“We have had some new customers,” Ms Oughton said. “Curiosity brings them in.
“Hopefully they will become repeat customers and share the good news with friends.”
Ms Oughton also encouraged people to visit and enjoy the café as it benefits a good cause — all proceeds go towards purchasing equipment for the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute and KEMH.
The Pink Café is located in KEMH’s general wing and is open from 9am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Tea and coffee is served on Saturdays from 9.30am to 11.30am.
