Motorists are being encouraged to leave their cars out of the city next week, and instead enjoy a walk.

With two of the city’s main car parks — No 1 car park and City Hall car park — closed due to construction work the Corporation has partnered with the Department of Health “to turn this into a positive healthy habit campaign,” said a city spokesperson.

Next week has been tagged ‘City Walking Week” with 50 prizes up for grabs.

Drivers are urged to:

• to make 10,000 steps each day;

• wear sneakers to work and;

• park at Bull’s Head car park and walk into town.
