Aecon Group, the contractor for the airport redevelopment project, is to hold an information session next week for the local construction industry.

Attendees will also be able to submit questions on the planned construction of a new terminal at LF Wade International Airport.

The session on November 8, which will be attended by senior Aecon executives, is to give details submitting bids once the project has been agreed.

Aecon representatives will also give the proposed construction schedule, the labour requirements for the project, and details of the Request for Quotation and Request for Proposal processes, with dates.

Construction industry members will be invited through the Construction Association of Bermuda and the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, according to an Aecon statement issued this afternoon.

The session at the Hamilton Princess is open to industry members only, who will be invited to add themselves to a “prequalification database” with further details to be supplied.

Grant Gibbons, the Minister of Economic Development, said the event, which runs from 5.20pm to 7.30pm, was aimed at passing on the information needed for local firms to bid. He called on “all those in the construction industry” to attend.

Frank Ross, Aecon’s executive advisor for the infrastructure division, said the company came with “significant experience building award-winning, world-class airports and our goal is to do the same here in Bermuda”.
