Rallying around Malinda’s family
Former classmates of the late Malinda Binns have banded together to help her family cover the cost of her cancer treatment.
The Whitney Bulls class of ’77 to ’82 is a group of Whitney Institute graduates who “pull together as a unit during good times and bad”, according to team member Andrea Daniels.
With the offering of “prayers, hospital visits and generous donations”, the Bulls collectively raised $2,390 to present to her daughter, Anita O’Connor. Née O’Connor, Malinda was dying from cancer when she married Jamel Binns at a ceremony in October at Agape House. She passed away last month, leaving her family with bills topping $100,000.
The donations are going to the Lady Cubitt Compassionate Association.
“Every little bit counts in making a big difference,” Ms Daniels said.
Donations towards the cause are still being taken at the LCCA’s HSBC account #010-287209-002. Donors are asked to state that their funds are intended for Malinda Binns.
