Taxi driver robbed

Police are appealing to the public for information following the robbery of a taxi driver on Monday night.

According to police, the male driver picked up two passengers — a man and a woman believed to be in their 20s — from Cedar Avenue in the City of Hamilton at around 10pm.

Upon arriving at the parking lot of the Clearview Suites & Villas, in Hamilton Parish, the male passenger allegedly grabbed the driver's money pouch and fled.

“A subsequent search of the immediate area did not locate the suspect or his female companion,” police said.

The male suspect is described as having a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing dark-coloured clothing. The female is described as light complexioned, last seen wearing a blue tracksuit top and red tracksuit pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 247-1744 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477.
