One of the island’s best-known ships, the sailing training sloop Spirit of Bermuda, has been showing its class at the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta.
The races pitted the replica Bermuda schooner against classic yachts from around the world. According to the Bermuda Sloop Foundation, the idea came up in discussions about how to revive an old tradition of yachts coming to Bermuda after racing in Antigua.
The last round of races for the classic wound up yesterday. It marked the regatta’s 30th anniversary.
