A medical evacuation was performed yesterday off the cruise ship Anthem of the Seas, Bermuda Maritime Operations reported.

An alert came at 7.27am from a local shipping agent. Local emergency services, including the pilot boat St David, were then put on alert.

The vessel, which carries 4,900, arrived off the East End, and the patient was successfully transferred to the boat just after 6pm, and brought ashore for transfer to the hospital.

The Anthem then continued on its journey from Saint Kitts to Bayonne, New Jersey.
