A book of condolences for Shawn Crockwell is being prepared by the Cabinet Office, and will be available for public signing.

The independent MP and prominent lawyer was found dead in his home on Saturday afternoon, leading to an outpouring of condolences from his legal and parliamentary colleagues.

In a statement yesterday, a Cabinet Office spokesperson said: “On behalf of the Government of Bermuda, the Cabinet Office takes this opportunity to extend sincerest and deepest condolences to the family and friends of the former Minister of Tourism Development and Transport Shawn Crockwell.

“The Cabinet Office is advising that as of noon tomorrow, a condolence book will be available for signing in commemoration of Mr Crockwell.”

Members of the public wishing to pay tribute to Mr Crockwell by signing the condolence book can visit the Cabinet Office, located on the first floor of Innovation House, 46 Reid Street, Hamilton.

The Cabinet Office also said that flags have symbolically been flown at half mast for former Members of Parliament from sunrise to sunset on the day of the funeral.

“This will be the protocol in place for MP Crockwell,” a Cabinet spokeswoman said.
