Miles Market’s IT system was subject to an attempted hacking resulting in customers having to pay in cash only for a limited period.

According to CEO of the Waterfront Group of Companies Will Cox, the store’s antiviral protection measures “caught everything”.

Mr Cox said: “We did have some system issues and we are systemically restoring everything from our back-ups. We’ve had no security breaches, however.”

The “issues” affected the company last Monday, he said.

“That’s the reason why we have so many security systems in place. We want to make sure that all the data is safe — it’s taken us seven days to go through it.

“We have sophisticated antiviral protection across our various platforms, which include Miles, Harry’s, our property company. Our IT team caught everything.”
