A man is dead after a car crashed into a wall in St George’s late on Saturday night.

It happened on York Street, just east of Fort George Hill, as the car was travelling west at about 11.40pm.

Two people — a 29-year-old Warwick woman and a 30-year-old Devonshire man — were rushed to hospital via ambulance.

Police at the scene confirmed that the man had subsequently died in hospital of his injuries.

The woman, whose injuries were said not to be life-threatening, is expected to be arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, police said.

The deceased man was not immediately identified.

Officers continue to investigate.
