Smith to take over from Hayward at BEST
The project co-ordinator at an environmental charity is to take over its leadership.
Kim Smith will replace co-founder of the Bermuda Environmental Sustainability Taskforce Stuart Hayward as the charity celebrates its tenth anniversary.
BEST was first formed as Save the Gardens in protest at a plan to build a new hospital building in the Botanical Gardens.
The organisation later turned to wider environmental issues and changed its name to BEST as it fought plans to erect a hotel on the Southlands estate in Warwick.
The organisation has since then fought to protect open spaces around the island and develop policies to protect the environment.
The charity has most recently raised concerns over a plan to start quad bike tours on the Railway Trail.
The charity will celebrate its anniversary and honour Mr Hayward's contribution at an event next week.
