King’s Wharf at Dockyard is due a makeover, combining repairs with the possibility of upgrading the cruise ship pier to take on a larger class of vessels.

After an expression of interest from the Department of Works and Engineering, a meeting was hosted yesterday for contractors to get details on the work required. A ministry spokeswoman said it would be “premature” to provide details on the cost anticipated for the job, which includes a demolition of the present wharf deck.

The notice was issued to select contractors who would be invited to submit tenders, with “several” expected to be chosen to work together for the job.
