Submissions sought for Graphic Design Showcase

Rare opportunity: Stephan Johnstone, founder and creative director at SJD World, is organising the Graphic Design Showcase at the Bermuda Society of Arts

Graphic designers will get the chance to display their talents in an exhibition next month.

The Graphic Design Showcase is a collaboration between graphic design company SJD World and the Bermuda Society of Arts.

Stephan Johnstone, founder and creative director at SJD World, said: “As graphic designers and digital artists, we don’t get many opportunities to display our work in a gallery setting.

“It is also very rare that we get the opportunity to meet others in our industry and network.

“I meet graphic design students all the time who don’t have an outlet for their work or the opportunity to show off their skills for potential employers and/or clients.”

He added: “This is also a great way to get inspired. Even if you are not in the show you can come out and see some of the best of what Bermuda has to offer within this space.”

The showcase, sponsored by Bermuda Blueprinting, has three categories — digital art — computer-generated illustration, digital photo collage and 3D; corporate design — logos, advertisements, poster, flyers, data-visualisations and typography; and manipulated photography — a photo taken with a digital camera with minor manipulation.

The event is open to designers from amateur to professional level.

Entry to the event and work must be submitted to BSOA by Wednesday, July 25 by 4pm.

Application forms is available at www.bsoa.bm/gds/

All submissions must be framed with screw eyes inserted and a cord or wire attached or mounted on foam core/gator board with hanger attached. For more information call 292-3824 or e-mail info@bsoa.bm
