Driver fined for hitting pedestrian

A 48-year-old woman today admitted hitting a woman with her car.

Lisa Brewster, of Pembroke, pleaded guilty to careless driving in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that Brewster’s car struck a woman who was crossing the road at the junction of Victoria Street and King Street in Hamilton.

The pedestrian suffered multiple bruises which required treatment and left her unable to work.

Brewster told the court she was “very sorry for the incident”, which happened on March 6.

She added: “She never came into my view.”

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Brewster $800 and imposed 10 points on her driving licence.
