Tynes Bay will have longer hours for public trash drop-offs from Monday.

Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the Minister of Public Works, said the number of people using the drop-off service had increased. He added that the plant manager had agreed to extend opening hours.

Colonel Burch announced in June that once-a-week trash collection, which replaced a twice-weekly schedule, would remain in place until the end of this year. The new schedule resulted in more residents dropping off their trash at the Tynes Bay Incinerator.

The waste to energy plant’s new hours will be 7am to 7pm Monday to Sunday and 9am to noon on public holidays.
