The Department of Health kicked off its Fitness in the Park drive with a Zumba demonstration at Victoria Park yesterday.

The class, run by Inspired Fitness, attracted about 30 adults and children from two summer camps as they held a public workout.

The event signalled the start of a series of daily classes, with sessions teaching kick-boxing, and dance exercises.

Fitness in the Park sessions, which will be held in both Victoria Park and Barr’s Bay Park on Pitts Bay Road, will run until September 14.

On September 26, “Celebrating Wellness” will end the summer series.

Jen Ward, founder of Inspired Fitness and an instructor, said: “We want people of any size, any type, any fitness level to be able to come in, do a class and enjoy it and not feel intimidated and have fun while also exercising and getting fit.”
