Former British officer joins police
A British former police officer with expertise in vulnerable people has joined the Bermuda Police.
A spokesman for the service said Fiona Knight, a former detective sergeant with Cheshire Constabulary, will work in “investigations, vulnerable persons and disclosure matters”.
Stephen Corbishley, the commissioner, welcomed Ms Knight, who has joined the vulnerable persons unit.
Ms Knight has more than 30 years’ experience in policing, including major crime, the Criminal Investigation Department and the police safeguarding unit.
During her last few years in Cheshire, Ms Knight served as a detective sergeant on the strategic public protection unit in charge of rape and serious sexual offences in her last few years with Cheshire police.
She investigated serious sexual assault cases and wrote and maintained policies in the area.
Ms Knight is a specialist investigative interviewer and qualified at the Professionalising the Investigation Process — or PIP 2 — level.
She is also a qualified trainer for specialist investigative courses and in interview techniques.
She has performed disclosure duties for many of her cases while she worked on major crime, including murder and other serious crimes. Ms Knight has recent UK experience in the investigation of high-profile child sexual exploitation cases.
