Thanks to B.F & M, Bermuda Red Cross have a new van to deliver the larger medical equipment to customers. After 11 years the Land Rover, that had been donated by Land Rover UK, had to be retired due to many mechanical problems which is why it was so very exciting to receive this generous donation from B.F & M.

In the last 11 months over 880 different pieces of equipment have been rented through the Rentals Department at Bermuda Red Cross. The majority of their customers are family members that are taking care of their elderly relatives within their home since they have a limited amount of financial resources. The biggest items that are in demand are electric hospital beds and wheelchairs along with that the demand for delivery of these items. At any given time, there is a waiting list of 6-10 names waiting for an electric bed to become available.

The van will also be an invaluable resource for the Red Cross Disaster Management program in support of Bermuda Red Cross work in vulnerable communities and in support of Bermuda Red Cross efforts to provide Mobile First Aid Responders at events.

John Wight, President and Chief Executive Officer of BF&M Limited, said: “We are pleased to support the good work of the Red Cross and we recognize the need by many families in our community for specialized medical equipment. We are happy that the new van we’re donating will make the delivery of that equipment easier.”
